CTP Projekt has completed a smoke-extraction design for the entrance hall and large area of the sports hall of the “Ksaver Šandor Gjalski” Primary School in Mlinarska Street in Zagreb. The project was implemented in 2022.
The new school sports hall is located within the new, semi-buried wing of the Ksaver Šandor Gjalski primary school. The hall structure consists of a large sports hall with a telescopic auditorium, as well as supporting facilities and technical spaces.
In the 2007 competition for the school expansion, the primary problem was meeting functional, hygienic, safety and other criteria within the extremely limited available space. There was almost no free ground for construction, so a solution had to be found that would optimize the excavation of the natural configuration of the hill below the park. The designers decided to build on the already established typological model.
