CTP Projekt participated in one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Croatia – the reconstruction of the old (right) tunnel tube of the Učka Tunnel. As part of the project, we developed the design documentation for the ventilation, fire alarm and fire protection systems, as well as
We would like to emphasize that for the needs of traffic safety through the Učka Tunnel, we have also prepared a Risk Analysis of the Transport of Dangerous Goods according to the DG-QRAM methodology (PIARC/OECD), which additionally ensures risk assessment and management in accordance with international safety standards.
Before the tunnel tube was put into service, we conducted a fire test led by Mr. Krešimir Ivanek, which confirmed the correct operation of all safety systems. The regulation and management of the systems were tested in real conditions, with special emphasis on the system’s reaction in the event of a fire. The integration of the new and reconstructed tunnel tube systems and their interaction with each other were also tested, including the operation of the ventilation system in two-way and one-way traffic regimes.

On September 25, 2025, Director of CTP Projekt, Mr. Miodrag Drakulić attended the ceremonial opening of the reconstructed right tunnel tube. This completed a multi-year process in which our team participated from the very beginning – from risk analysis and design development, to fire testing on both tunnel tubes.
By reconstructing the old tube and opening both tunnel tubes to traffic, the Učka Tunnel becomes one of the most modern and safest road tunnels in Croatia. Since September 26, traffic has been running in a one-way regime through each tunnel tube, which significantly increases traffic flow and safety and contributes to better connectivity between Istria and the continental part of Croatia.
